COVID-19: Initial Letter to Community
Re - Coronavirus updates
Dear EUTC community,
There is a lot of media attention today on the Coronavirus outbreak and the government is holding a Cobra meeting as I write this letter.
Current government advice is that schools stay open however, this could change soon. As soon as we know more I will write again. Rest assured that we have a closure contingency plan and will be ready to follow DfE guidelines as soon as we have more information.
There have been no diagnosed cases of coronavirus among our staff or students. Current guidance is to contact NHS on 111 if you are experiencing symptoms (fever, coughing or shortness of breath). If you have recently been to a known country of concern, or in direct contact with someone who has contracted coronavirus, then you should self isolate at home and seek medical advice from NHS 111.
As a digital and media specialist college, we have ‘Google Apps for Education’ including ‘Google Classroom’ and ‘Google Hangouts’. We are well resourced to provide materials for remote learning if the government decides to close schools, which is looking increasingly likely.
I will write again as soon as we know more, but for now at least, we are safe, healthy and open. Yours sincerely
Chris Mitchell
