COVID-19 Update 3: External Support During COVID-19

Re: External support during COVID 19

Dear Parent/Guardian,

I am emailing to outline two types of support that is being offered by external agencies during lockdown.

The first is a counselling service ‘Signpost Counselling Service’, which has offices in Watford and Hemel Hempstead, who are continuing to offer counselling to young people aged 10-25. Counselling sessions are being delivered either by Zoom, video or audio based counselling or by telephone.

Sessions and session timings can be offered flexibly during the current crisis, and they will try and work out the best ways of contact with each young person. All of their counsellors are experienced in working with young people. You can visit their website for further information.

If you feel your child would benefit from this, and would engage in these sessions then please visit their website and complete an application form. You can also phone them on 01923 239495 or 07444 768078 where they can help with an application.

Additionally, they are also offering parents some free support, and there are 4 free sessions available for any parent. This service for parents is not counselling, it is a support service, giving practical advice or pointing you in the right direction to obtain the right support or counselling. Their normal office hours are 10-4 pm Monday to Thursday.

The second is a ‘Young People’s helpline’ which launched last week, alongside the 24/7 crisis line for adults. Please see below their contact details:
