Elstree Film Festival 2019/20

ESA is proud to have collaborated again this year with Elstree Film Studios and Dream Catcher Film Camp to Facilitate the Elstree Film Festival 2019/20.

Elstree Film Studios ran the Film Festival for the third year exclusively for local schools and aspiring young film makers in Hertfordshire. The students made the films from scratch including scripting, producing, directing and acting. The week began with a masterclass in script writing, character development and plot outline before the children split into their age appropriate film making teams in order to begin writing their scripts. ESA hosted the festival during the October half term week and worked with DRCM Ltd to provide facilities, resources, expertise and guidance. Over 50 students (aged 8 to 15) from over 20 schools made a range of films including Frenemies, Gone, Murder by Midnight, The Missing Child and Unsupervised. The films can be watched HERE.

Roger Morris, Managing Director of Elstree Studios said

“Elstree Studios has and always will be an integral part of the community.  We want to celebrate that by using our expertise in producing world-renowned films to inspire the filmmakers of the future.”

Chris Mitchell, Principal of Elstree Screen Arts Academy said

“We’re really glad to be partnering Elstree Studios again along with DRCM to provide young people with an opportunity to make a film working with industry professionals and high end kit. It’s exactly what we’re here for and our students and staff know how cool it is to work and learn in this specialist environment. It’s great to be able to inspire and facilitate aspiring media makers from our wider community as well as those who come to this school.”
