Our ArtsMark Journey

We are pleased to announce that we have formally commenced our journey towards ArtsMark recognition. I know that this sounds like something we should already have given our specialism but we’ve only been open 6 years and as a fairly new school, it takes time to develop partnerships and common practice that provide the evidence over time that we are worthy of this recognition.

It’s also more than a kite mark - recognition is not really the point. ArtsMark is a standard that identifies the work schools do to bring learning to life through arts and culture - that is literally why we are here. But it’s also a form of support, linking schools up to work together and learn from each other to develop the best cultural learning practice.

We are working this year to measure up to our own statement of commitment to further develop our community work and curriculum development. This includes our work with Elstree Studios and Dreamcatcher Film Camp to facilitate the Elstree Film Festival for young people across Hertfordshire (over 20 schools).

We are also working with Trestle Theatre and Arts Base in St Albans, Puranas puppet theatre and BLESMA on various Arts Community Projects.

We will be submitting our evidence later in 2020 in the hope that we will achieve ArtsMark Status - watch this space. Meanwhile, keep an eye out for our OnEx 2020 exhibition where some of this work will be on show.
